Sri Lanka’s chief selector, Sanath Jayasuriya has resigned with immediate effect from the panel appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to select the next national coach.
Jayasuriya said that he reached to the decision due to a personal matter. He said that he has sent his letter of resignation to SLC Executive Committee President Jayantha Dharmadasa and Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.
According to the experts, former Sri Lankan captain and current interim coach Marvan Atapattu remains optimistic that he will take over the team on a permanent basis.
Sri Lanka Cricket is scheduled to convene a meeting this afternoon to ratify the appointment of national head coach.
